According the 2021 Safe Cities Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit, Shanghai ranked 30 among the world’s top 50 safe cities.
Major international events hosted by Shanghai include the APEC Summit in 2002 and 2015, the 2007 Special Olympics, World Expo 2010, FINA World Championships 2011, 2015 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, and 2024 F1 Chinese Grand Prix, also tens of thousands of conferences, exhibitions, and activities are sucessfully organized annually.
