One School One Member

One School One Member (OSOM) is a signature cultural exchange programme of WorldSkills Competitions. Through pairing local schools in the host city with WSI Members, the programme fosters meaningful cross-cultural connections between international Competitors and local youth, while highlighting the vital role of skilled professions.

Through this programme, students explore the culture, traditions, and values of their paired Member, gaining unique insights into skill careers. The programme will be held on the morning of the Opening Ceremony, when schools will warmly welcome international Competitors to their campuses for constructive face-to-face exchanges.

As a cultural hallmark of WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, the OSOM programme builds a bridge connecting local youth with global skill stars, fostering vibrant cultural exchange and celebrating the spirit of craftsmanship.

Ahead of the Competition, participating schools have conducted a range of preparatory activities, including interactive exchanges, briefing sessions, WorldSkills knowledge quizzes, and student artwork creations themed on WorldSkills Competition skills during the Competition Preparation Week (CPW). Through these, students have gained a deep understanding of their paired Members' values and cultural traditions, as well as intuitive and profound insights into the diverse skill professions covered by the Competition.

The OSOM programme reaches its climax. Over 1,400 international Competitors will visit 62 paired schools across Shanghai for a meaningful exchange. For two hours, young people from both sides will share their cultures, traditions, and values face to face. This is both a cultural celebration where youth bond through skills and a powerful statement to the world. Skills Change the World, Skills Illuminate the Future!
