WorldSkills Museum
Situated in the Left Bund, Yangpu District of Shanghai, the WorldSkills Museum is the only physical museum recognised by WorldSkills International and also the world's first museum taking "WorldSkills" as part of its name. Jointly developed by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China, Shanghai Municipal People's Government and WorldSkills International, the WorldSkills Museum will serve as a center for skills demonstration, a platform for skills cooperation and exchange, a base for skills education for youth and an official literature center.
The WorldSkills Museum presents to visitors the six permenant exhibition zones of Tools and our world, Celebrating a successful global movement, Skills development and China, Building a better world with skills, Skills and STEM, and Skills and the Industrial Revolution. With a collection of more than 2,000 precious assets, the museum currently displays around 800 assets in its permanent exhibition. Visitors will get to know the past, present and future of skills, understand the role of skills in advancing human civilisation, and learn China’s breakthroughs and accomplishments in skills.
The museum building, former Wing On Storehouse, is a century-old heritage architecture. Guided by the concept of "like-for-like renovation", the original walls, flat slabs and octagonal columns with funnel-shaped heads are kept the same, which epitomizes Chinese element, Shanghai symbol and craftsmanship.
